“Still I Rise” Art Show Reception

Drawing from Maya Angelou’s poem Still I Rise, the intent of this art show is to document and share with the UCSB community the healing process of those who have faced violence, of all forms, struggled, and who find survival in creating.We will also have various art stations in which the community can participate in this healing process as well as create a space for activism and once again we can raise our voices to speak out against sexual assault and dating and domestic violence.

Part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2010 presented by Students Stopping Rape and Take Back the Night.

Kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month!

TUESDAY, APRIL 6TH @ 7PM @ THE CORWIN PAVILLION.

Former NFL Eagles players leads a discussion that focuses on language such as “you throw like a girl” that sets the standard on the narrow expectations of masculinity while simultaneously establishing an understanding that girls and women are “less than” men. The presentation focuses on nurturing positive language and understanding of masculine identity.

This event is co-sponsored by Women’s Center Rape Prevention Education Program, AS Take Back the Night and Black Pioneers Renaissance Organization and is funded by AS.
